Our Story

How Moradok Law Came to Be

The name Moradok — the Thai word for heritage or inheritance — was chosen deliberately. It reflects not just our area of practice, but the significance we attach to the work. An estate represents a lifetime; handling it well is both a legal and a human responsibility.

The firm was founded in Bangkok by a team of Thai-qualified lawyers who had each spent years working on estate and succession matters within larger commercial practices. What they observed was a gap: families navigating inheritance — often during periods of grief or uncertainty — were frequently served documentation-first rather than conversation-first. The process worked, but the experience was often disorienting.

Moradok Law was formed to do this differently. We structured the practice around the client relationship, not the administrative output. Every service we offer begins with a proper consultation, moves at a considered pace, and concludes with written clarity on what has been done and what remains.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Our mission is to make inheritance law accessible and comprehensible — not by simplifying it, but by explaining it well. Thai succession law is detailed and, in some areas, technical. We do not expect our clients to become experts. We expect ourselves to explain things clearly.

We work with individuals planning their estates, executors managing an inheritance, beneficiaries with questions about their position, and families where a matter has become contested. Whatever the starting point, the approach is the same: listen carefully, advise honestly, and proceed thoughtfully.

Core Values

  • Clarity — We use plain language in every conversation and every document summary.
  • Honesty — We give realistic assessments, not optimistic ones designed to win business.
  • Respect — We treat every matter — and every person involved — with care and dignity.
  • Discretion — Client information is held in strict confidence at all times.

Professional Standards

How We Maintain the Quality of Our Work

These are not aspirations — they are practices embedded in how we operate day to day.

Thai Bar Registration

All legal work is carried out by Thai Bar Association-registered lawyers. We maintain current registration and comply with all professional conduct requirements.

Client Confidentiality

All information shared with Moradok Law is subject to strict professional confidentiality. We do not discuss client matters externally without explicit consent, unless required by law.

Written Advice Summaries

Following every substantive consultation, clients receive a written summary of the advice given and the agreed next steps — removing ambiguity and providing a clear record.

Continuing Legal Education

Our lawyers engage in ongoing professional development, particularly in areas of Thai succession law, cross-border estate matters, and developments in court practice.

Transparent Communication

We maintain regular updates throughout each matter. Clients are informed of progress at meaningful stages, not left waiting without knowing where things stand.

Ethical Practice

We decline matters where we have a conflict of interest and advise clients honestly when a situation falls outside our areas of expertise, referring to appropriate specialists when needed.

Inheritance Law in Thailand: What Families Should Know

Thai inheritance law is governed primarily by Books V and VI of the Civil and Commercial Code. The framework defines statutory heirs, their priority order, and the conditions under which a will may override or supplement that default distribution. For most families, the details of this framework only become relevant when a loved one dies — often at a time when people are least equipped to navigate legal processes.

Moradok Law was built around the understanding that legal counsel in these moments needs to be both accurate and humane. The law has its own requirements; so do the families involved. Our role is to honour both: to move a matter through the legal process correctly while keeping the people involved informed and supported throughout.

We work with a range of clients. Some come to us while still in good health, wanting to put a will in place and ensure their wishes are legally sound. Others come after a bereavement, responsible for an estate they were not expecting to manage. Still others come because a disagreement has arisen among heirs, and the family needs objective legal support to find a resolution.

Regardless of the starting point, our approach is the same: understand the situation, explain the options clearly, and provide the kind of steady assistance that allows families to move forward with confidence. Bangkok-based and Thai-qualified, Moradok Law serves clients across Thailand and assists families where the estate has an international dimension.
